Stuvik Fights Back to Take Race 2 Pole

1 Mins read

After the disappointment of losing a near-certain race 1 win with a mechanical issue on Saturday, Thailand’s Sandy Stuvik took his second EuroFormula Open pole position of the weekend around the Portimao track in Portugal.

Like in race 1, he will be joined on the front row by his RP Motorsport team-mate Artur Janosz, but Stuvik will be hopeful that he can convert this pole position into the victory he craves. Janosz took advantage of Stuvik’s issues to take his maiden win yesterday.

Team West-Tec F3’s Tanart Sathienthirakul will start race 2 from the second row of the grid, alongside Spaniard Alex Palou for Campos Racing. DAV Racing’s Gerardo Nieto had his best qualifying of the season with fifth, while Yarin Stern will want to recover his weekend after retiring on the opening lap of race 1; the Israeli driver starts sixth for Team West-Tec F3.

Another driver keen to salvage a decent result in race 2 will be Che-One Lim. The Korean driver was another to retire in the early stages of race 1, and the Emilio de Villota Motorsport driver will start from seventh on the grid. Russian driver John Simonyan, who was running strongly yesterday before being forced to retire his RP Motorsport machine in the latter stages of the race, will start eighth.

Yesterday’s runner-up Yu Kanamaru will start ninth for Emilio de Villota Motorsport, while Cameron Twynham will start tenth for Team West-Tec F3.
