Palou Beats Stuvik to Race 1 Pole at Wet Silverstone

1 Mins read

Spanish rookie Alex Palou took pole position as the weather played havoc with the first EuroFormula Open qualifying session of the weekend at Silverstone.

On a wet track, Campos Racing driver Palou beat fellow championship contender Sandy Stuvik of RP Motorsport by 0.096s, while championship leader Artur Janosz could only qualify eighth.

Friday pace setter Yarin Stern had to settle for third place on the grid for Team West-Tec F3, but was more than half a second behind the pole time, while over a second back in fourth was the first of Palou’s team-mates in the form of Russian Konstantin Tereschenko.

Japanese driver Yu Kanamaru took fifth in the leading Emilio de Villota Motorsport entry, just ahead of the sole Briton in this weekends event Sean Walkinshaw, who put his Campos Racing machine into sixth.

Team West-Tec F3’s Nicolas Pohler just beat Janosz into seventh, while RP Motorsport filled out the top ten with Russian John Simonyan and Guatemalan Andres Saravia ninth and tenth respectively.
