Sorensen on Top as French F4 resumes at Val de Vienne

1 Mins read

Danish driver Lasse Sorensen was quickest in qualifying ahead of this weekends French Formula 4 rounds at Val de Vienne. He took pole position for race three by setting the best time of the session ahead of series debutant Patricio O’Ward, and pole again for race one with the second fastest time of the session.

Sorensen set the initial benchmark time early in the session, and gradually improved his time to take his maiden French F4 pole position, while Mexican driver O’Ward had a remarkable debut session to take the second front row grid slot.

Anglo-Swiss driver Felix Hirsiger was third fastest, with Swiss driver Paul Hokfelt Jr fourth. The leading French driver was Valentin Moineault in fifth, just ahead of current championship leader Dorian Boccalacci.

Aussie racer Joseph Mawson was disappointed to qualify down in seventh, with Russian Denis Bulatov eighth, ahead of two more Frenchmen Tom Soubiron and Amaury Richard.

The starting grid for race one is determined by a driver’s second fastest lap in the session, and it again sees Sorensen on top. Hirsiger and O’Ward swap places and will start second and third respectively ahead of Hokfelt Jr, with Boccalacci fifth ahead of Moineault, Bulatov, Mawson, Richard and Bryan Elpitiya.
