Hickin Delighted With Postive End To Season

1 Mins read

Piers Hickin feels he finally showed the pace he was capable of all season in the final rounds of the Protyre Formula Renault Championship at Silverstone.

Fresh from his maiden category victory at Croft last weekend, Hickin was one of the stars of the show as the BARC Renault series made its annual appearance on the BTCC support package.

After narrowly missing out on the opening race win of the weekend by just 0.060 seconds, Hickin went on to make it two wins for the season with a hard-earned success in race two.

As well as being naturally delighted with the win, the 17 year old was also left wishing the season wasn’t over after reaching his best form of the year.

“It would be nice if there was still some races left, as we’ve done really well in the last two weekends,” said Hickin. “We’ve had a difficult season, but we’ve fought our way back, got the car just where it should be and it’s shown with these last two positive weekends which is fantastic.”

For Hickin’s team Scorpio Motorsport, his success marks the second successive season the Leicestershire-based outfit have won the live-televised final race of the season, and Hickin was quick to praise the team for all their efforts over the campaign.

“Scorpio have done such a good job all season, we’ve kept working and kept working and while we probably should have up there taking wins all year, we can’t complain with where we have finished. Second is fantastic for my first full season of car racing,” he added.
