Mehdi Bennani claimed his first win in the World Touring Car Championship with a lights-to-flag drive in race two in Shanghai.

The Proteam Honda driver was able to build a gap early on as those behind him fought to defend their places. Fellow Civic drivers Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro passed Hugo Valente, and behind that, Yvan Muller made contact with his Citroen team-mate Sebastien Loeb, forcing Muller to pit with damage and suffer a further blow to his title hopes.

Tarquini slowed with a car problem, promoting Monteiro to second, which he held until the end. Jose Maria Lopez climbed up into third place to extend his championship lead to 93 points.

Loeb finished fourth ahead of Norbert Michelisz and Chinese Citroen driver Ma Qing Hua. ROAL Motorsport drivers Tom Coronel and Tom Chilton completed the top eight ahead of their Campos counterparts Valente and Dusan Borkovic.
