Jose Maria Lopez claimed victory in a Citroen lockout of the top four places in the first World Touring Car Championship race in Shanghai, as the French marque clinched the manufacturers’ title in fittingly dominant style.
After claiming pole position on Saturday, Lopez led the race from lights to flag, followed by local star Ma Qing Hua and Yvan Muller.
Sebastien Loeb was the man with some work to do, starting fifth and falling to seventh at the start. But he would go on to pass the Hondas of Tiago Monteiro, Gabriele Tarquini and Norbert Michelisz to move up to fourth.
Michelisz held onto fifth ahead of his factory counterparts Tarquini and Michelisz. Tom Chilton ran eighth until losing a wheel, promoting his ROAL Chevrolet team-mate Tom Coronel.
Hugo Valente and Mehdi Bennani completed the top ten, while Rob Huff stopped out of 11th on the last lap with a puncture.
