Gabriele Tarquini claimed victory for Honda at their home circuit of Suzuka in the second World Touring Car Championship race of the weekend in Japan.

Starting from the reverse grid pole position after a difficult qualifying session for the manufacturer, the Italian veteran capitalised fully and led the race throughout to score the first win of the year for the factory squad.

Dusan Borkovic survived a first lap tap at the chicane from Norbert Michelisz to hold second place throughout and claim his maiden podium finish.

Tom Coronel held onto fourth place under pressure from the Citroen trio of Yvan Muller, newly-crowned champion Jose Maria Lopez and Sebastien Loeb.

Muller had earlier knocked Hugo Valente out of fifth place and into retirement. Behind the Citroens, Gianni Morbidelli was eighth, Tiago Monteiro was ninth and Tom Chilton was tenth.
