Review: TCF’s Top 10 Auto GP World Series Drivers of 2014

8) Vittorio Ghirelli

2013 Auto GP World Series champion Vittorio Ghirelli returned to the series when a break in his main series, the Indy Lights series in the United States, allowed him to, and raced for both the Super Nova International and FMS Racing outfits.

Despite only competing in six races, he finished on the podium twice, both runners-up spots at the Hungaroring and at Estoril, both while driving for Super Nova.

His performances for FMS Racing at Imola were both good enough for points finishes also, which meant the twenty-year-old Italian was able to finish inside the top ten in the championship standings.

Undoubtedly, Ghirelli is one of the brightest talents from Italy at present, but with his focus seemingly on breaking into American open-wheel, he could be lost from European competition, which is a real shame.
