Albatec Racing to contest full British Rallycross Championship in 2015

1 Mins read

Andy Scott‘s Albatec Racing are to contest a full British Rallycross Championship in 2015. Fielding the two 600 BHP Peugeot 208 Supercars that were run in the inaugral FIA World Rallycross championship in 2014. One of which was driven by F1 legend Jaques Villeneuve.

Joining Andy in the second car will be Mark Flaherty. Flaherty possibly unknown to all but the most die hard and older Rallycross fans is making a return to British Rallycross after a 20 year lay off.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining Andy and Albatec Racing for a full campaign on the British Rallycross Championship.” said Flaherty. “The team has shown its commitment to rallycross and is arguably one of the most high profile teams in rallycross, having attracted the likes of Villeneuve and Mika Salo into the car. The chance to drive the car driven by Jacques is certainly an interesting prospect!

“I’ll be going all out to win that title.” – Mark Flaherty.

“I visited the workshops and was very impressed with the team’s facilities, its dedication and professionalism, while the high standard of preparation and the rebuild and updates currently in progress for the Peugeot 208 in my mind means it should be a very competitive car.”

Scott is clear about his intentions this year, “I personally have unfinished business in Britain, and I’m aiming to go one better than in 2011 when I just missed the title. This is not the end of the team’s European or World RX challenge however, just the first phase of our exciting plans for 2015, and we expect to be making further announcements very shortly.”

2015 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years for the British Rallycross Championship.
