Fifteen-year-old Jannes Fittje has become Team Motopark’s second confirmed driver in as many days for the inaugural ADAC Formula 4 championship.
After announcing Swede Joel Eriksson yesterday, the team have announced German-born Fittje, won a regional karting title in 2014 as well as finishing eighth in the Kart Junior World Championship in France, and moves up for his first year in car racing this season.
“Our first tests have shown that I’ve managed the transition from Karting to the Formula Four car quite well and the team and myself are working very well together, too,” said self-confessed Sebastian Vettel fan Fittje.
“I’m grateful to Timo Rumpfkeil and Team Motopark for the faith and trust they’ve put in me and am looking forward to a lot of lessons learned in my maiden year in Formula Four.”
Team Principal Timo Rumpfkeil said that his team had been following the progress of Fittje since he won a big Karting event at the track that sits across from their factory at Oschersleben.
“We’ve been following his career ever since he won the Kart Masters on our home track, Oschersleben,“ says Rumpfkeil.
“He has shown his speed and kart control time and again, and he backed that impression up during our development and testing program in the past couple of months. We will do everything we can to be successful together in Germany’s first ever Formula Four season.“
