1 Mins read

Jonathon Cecotto, son of former motorcycle world champion Johnny Cecotto and the younger brother of the former GP2 driver with the same name as his father, will be competing in the 2015 ADAC Formula 4 championship.

It means that ADAC F4 will have yet another son of a legend join its ranks. With the already existing presence of Harrison Newey and Mick Schumacher, the young Venezuelan may not get as much media exposure as his rivals, but it is good news for the new series as it tries to gain popularity.

The young Cecotto will drive for the team Motopark. When asked about his prospects with the outfit, he said “I have been working hard all winter, and I will give everything I can this year. I am also very happy to be part of Team Motopark, which is an excellent and very competitive team! They can definitely teach me a lot, which is really important at the moment. The final goal though, is always to win as much as possible!”

At Motopark, he will team mates with; Joel Eriksson, Jannes Fittje, Michael Waldherr meaning he will have stiff competition this year. It also means that Motopark become the second team to enter 4 drivers for the season. Meanwhile, spaces at Swiss Motorsport Group, Lechner Racing, HTP Junior Team and Engstler Motorsport are now the only seats left on the grid in what is likely to be a competitive championship.

“Everybody in German racing knows the name ‘Cecotto’; we really take a big heritage aboard,” said Timo Rumpfkeil. “We feel honoured that someone so knowledgeable as Johnny Cecotto has chosen our Team Motopark for his youngest son’s first steps into car racing.”
