Baptista storms to Race 1 pole at Silverstone

Vitor Baptista dominated qualifying for the first EuroFormula Open race at Silverstone, with the young Brazilian taking pole position by 0.537s.

After a relatively subdued set of practice sessions on Friday, the RP Motorsport driver posted a best time of 1m53.045s, a lap time that was never challenged.

Leonardo Pulcini will join Baptista on the front row, with the DAV Racing driver posting a lap of 1m53.582s, which was just 0.018s quicker than Friday pacesetter Yu Kanamaru of Emilio de Villota Motorsport.

Joining Kanamaru on the second row, and leading a trio of cars covered by just 0.014s will be BVM Racing’s Alessio Rovera, with the Italian driver finishing just 0.001s faster than RP Motorsport’s Igor Walilko, while Team West-Tec F3’s Tanart Sathienthirakul was only 0.013s further back in sixth.

Andres Saravia of RP Motorsport will start seventh, ahead of current Championship leader Konstantin Tereschenko in the leading Campos Racing entry, while the top ten is rounded out by Yarin Stern and Damiano Fioravanti of Team West-Tec F3 and RP Motorsport respectively.
