Kanamaru on pole position for race 2 at Silverstone

A day after his maiden EuroFormula Open victory, Yu Kanamaru was back on track at Silverstone to take his maiden series pole position for race two.

The Emilio de Villota Motorsport driver set the pace on Sunday morning, posting a time of 1m52.969s to beat Alessio Rovera of BVM Racing by 0.301s.

Konstantin Tereschenko, who lost the championship lead during Saturday’s race, will start third for Campos Racing, with new championship leader Vitor Baptista alongside him in fourth for RP Motorsport.

Damiano Fioravanti was just 0.024s slower than his RP Motorsport team-mate in fifth, and will be joined on the third row by the leading Team West-Tec F3 driver Tanart Sathienthirakul.

Row four sees RP Motorsport’s Andres Saravia seventh ahead of Campos Racing’s Diego Mencheca, while the top ten is rounded out by Leonardo Pulcini of DAV Racing and Yarin Stern of Team West-Tec F3.

Kanamaru will be looking to become the first double winner of the season on Sunday, with race wins having been shared between drivers in the three previous rounds this year.
