Baptista takes Saturday Red Bull Ring pole

Vitor Baptista took his third pole position of the EuroFormula Open season at the Red Bull Ring on Saturday.

The Brazilian RP Motorsport driver, who sits second in the championship after the opening four events of the season, set a best time of 1m27.136s to beat Team West-Tec F3’s Yarin Stern by 0.260s to take the first pole of the weekend.

Diego Menchaca was an excellent third for Campos Racing ahead of the second Team West-Tec F3 machine of Tanart Sathienthirakul, while Emilio de Villota Motorsport’s Yu Kanamaru will start the opening race of the weekend from fifth.

Current championship leader Konstantin Tereschenko of Campos Racing will start from sixth ahead of Friday practice pacesetter Leonardo Pulcini of DAV Racing, while the RP Motorsport entries of Igor Walilko, Andres Saravia and Damiano Fioravanti completed the top ten.

Baptista will lead the sixteen-car field to the start at approximately 15:10 local time, before everyone resets for the second qualifying and race of the weekend on Sunday.
