Campos Racing have announced Diego Menchaca will remain in their EuroFormula Open team for a second season while bringing in Leonardo Pulcini and Julio Moreno as his team-mates.
Mexican ace Menchaca raced for the Spanish outfit in 2015 and secured his maiden EuroFormula Open podium in the season finale at the Circuit de Catalunya on his way to eighth place in the championship, with his aim to challenge for the title this season.
“I am very happy to continue the development of my career with Campos Racing,” said Menchaca. “This year the team and I have a very clear goal, win the EuroFormula Open Championship.
“Last year I learned a lot on the personal and professional side and we achieved good results, so we decided in November, to continue one more year with the team in the same championship.
“I would like to take the chance to thank Adrián Campos Senior and junior, Philippe Gautheron and the whole Campos Racing team for the teaching, support and trust.”
Italian teenager Pulcini moves across from DAV Racing, where he secured a race win at the Red Bull Ring and a further podium finish at Spa-Francorchamps, finishing ninth in the championship.
“I am very happy to be part of the Campos Racing family, and to announce that I will be racing in EuroFormula Open with them,” said Pulcini.
“Thank’s a lot to Adrián Campos Senior and Junior for the opportunity and the confidence they are giving to me.”
Ecuadorian Moreno has switched from racing in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship where he was the only driver for ThreeBond with T-Sport in 2015, and is hoping for a better 2016 after failing to secure a point last year.
“I’m very excited to contest the EuroFormula Open with Campos, the cradle of starts like Fernando Alonso,” said Moreno.
“This season is key for me because, despite It will be my first year in the EuroFormula Open, at the same time it will be my second season in a Formula 3 car, so I hope to use my experience to deliver a good performance in order to complete a positive season for my team and myself.”
