An all-new motoring festival will bring Formula 1 to the streets of Glasgow when IGNITION festival of motoring launches this summer.
The event will showcase all aspects of motoring when roads around the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and SSE Hydro Arena are closed to create Glasgow’s first ever street circuit. Former F1 driver David Coulthard will take the wheel of Red Bull Racing‘s 2011 car the RB7 to give fans an unique opportunity to see and hear a F1 machine up close.
IGNITION is organised by the team behind Top Gear Live where they promise it will be nothing like a traditional motor show. Top Gear’s tame racing driver The Stig will make an appearance with power laps around the street circuit. Track action will continue across the three days, with displays of iconic cars including a collection of Colin McRae’s rally cars.
IGNITION will celebrate the achievement of Scotland producing World Champions on two, three and four wheels, one of only five countries. The Top Gear Live Stunt team will bring excitement and flair to the live action zone, there will be a display of the finest supercars and hypercars from Bugattis to Zondas.
Further display areas include a Motor Sport Hall which will celebrate Scottish success in the competition arena and a Motorbike Hall of two-wheel machines from superbikes and cafe races to sports touring bikes.
