With the new EuroFormula Open season getting underway this weekend at the Portuguese circuit of Estoril, nineteen drivers enjoyed a day of testing at the track on Thursday, with Leonardo Pulcini setting the pace for Campos Racing.
Pulcini set the best time of the day in the final of the three sessions, with his 1m33.023s more than four-tenths of a second clear of Campos team-mate Diego Menchaca.
The Campos Racing duo led a trio of RP Motorsport entries, with Kusiri Kantadhee third ahead of Damiano Fioravanti and Tanart Sathienthirakul.
American teenager Colton Herta set the sixth best time of the day for Carlin, with the British team making their series debut this weekend in Portugal, while Igor Walilko was seventh for another team making their debut, Fortec Motorsports.
Ye Hongli was eighth for BVM Racing, while Nikita Zlobin of Teo Martin Motorsport and Keyvan Andres of Carlin completed the top ten.
Three of the confirmed drivers were absent from the test, with Jack Aitken and Tatiana Calderon on GP3 Series testing duty, while Ferdinand Habsburg was also missing from the days running, although all three are expected to be back for Friday’s testing and the weekend races.
