Lando Norris marked his first appearance around the streets of Monaco with the fastest time of the one and only Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series free practice session on Friday.
The Josef Kaufmann Racing driver and current championship leader set the fastest time of the morning with a lap of 1:32.178, set after the session was interrupted by a crash at the Swimming Pool complex by Gabriel Aubry.
The championship is making its own first appearance around the legendary street circuit this weekend, with one race set for Sunday morning, a prelude to the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
Norris was three-tenths of a second clear of the field with Ferdinand Habsburg, fresh off a double podium finish in EuroFormula Open last weekend, second fastest for Fortec Motorsports.
Tech 1 Racing saw two of their drivers inside the top four, with Sacha Fenestraz third ahead of team-mate Dorian Boccolacci, while R-ace GP were fifth and sixth fastest, Will Palmer ahead of Max Defourny by just 0.018s.
Henrique Chaves was seventh for AVF ahead of Josef Kaufmann Racing’s Jehan Daruvala, while Bruno Baptista was ninth for Fortec Motorsports ahead of the crashed Aubry of Tech 1 Racing.
Harrison Scott will be disappointed to be down in eleventh for AVF after two podium finishes in the season opener at Motorland Aragon, with the Briton just ahead of AVF team-mate Nikita Mazepin, who is making his first Eurocup appearance of the season in between racing for Hitech GP in European Formula 3.
Qualifying for Sunday’s race takes place early on Saturday morning.
