Leonardo Pulcini continued his strong start to the 2016 EuroFormula Open season by taking pole position for race one at Spa-Francorchamps on Friday.
The Italian started the year with a win and a runners-up spot at Estoril, and secured top spot in the opening qualifying session of the weekend with a lap time of 2m12.148s for Campos Racing, which was 0.238s faster than second placed Ferdinand Habsburg.
Habsburg set a best time of 2m12.386s in his Drivex School entry to secure his front row grid slot, while Diego Menchaca made it two Campos entries inside the top three, his time of 2m12.895s enough to see him end up ahead of a quartet of RP Motorsport entries.
Jack Aitken was the best placed of those RP drivers, with the Anglo-Korean driver and the 2015 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and ALPS champion the only other driver to get beneath the 2m13s barrier, setting a time of 2m12.907s.
Damiano Fioravanti and Tanart Sathienthirakul will share row three, ahead of team-mate Antoni Ptak, while Igor Walilko will start eighth for Fortec Motorsports. Carlin drivers Keyvan Andres and Colton Herta completed the top ten.
Twenty-three drivers are racing this weekend at the Belgian track, with Enaam Ahmed joining the field for DAV Racing, while Team West-Tec F3 are fielding Chinese driver JT Liang.
