Sacha Fenestraz continued to prove himself as a street circuit specialist as he added to his two victories in French F4 at Pau in 2015 with the first ever Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series victory at Monaco on Sunday morning.

The Frenchman secured his first points of the season in brilliant fashion, converting his inherited pole position (after both Lando Norris and Ferdinand Habsburg took penalties) into a maiden series win in extremely wet and tricky conditions.

The Tech 1 Racing driver felt it was a perfect response to his scoreless weekend at Motorland Aragon that started the season, with Fenestraz feeling it was a good weekend to win in front of the watching Formula 1 teams.

“It is just amazing!” revealed Fenestraz. “To win at Monaco, in front of the F1 community, for the first participation of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 at Monaco is fantastic. It would be hard to ask for anything more!

“The weekend got off to a good start and finished with a perfect ending. The Tech 1 Racing team has a lot of experience with three wins in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series and the guys did such a perfect job with the car that I just had to concentrate on my driving!

“In the race, Habsburg was putting on the pressure, but I was able to pull away despite a few scares, most notably at the first corner. Following a scoreless first meeting, I am really happy with this success.

“The party with my brother in-law, José Maria Lopez should be good! He already called to celebrate his double win on the Nordschleife and my win!”
