Ferdinand Habsburg was able to claim his second podium finish of his Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series season at his home race at the Red Bull Ring on Saturday, finishing third before taking eighth in Sunday’s second race.

The Fortec Motorsports driver drove a strong race on Saturday at the Austrian circuit, and got himself involved in the titanic battle up front between Lando Norris and Max Defourny, separating the pair at the first turn on the final lap, only to lose out again to Defourny on the exit of turn two after a slight mistake of locking up his brakes heading into the turn.

Habsburg was happy with his weekend’s work and to stand on the podium at his home event, but is targeting a double podium finish and a first race win next time out at the French circuit of Paul Ricard.

“What a weekend, to be on the podium at home is an amazing feeling,” said Habsburg. “I have to say a big thanks to the team, to all the fans and to my family who came to support me, I really felt empowered on the podium by all the support.

“We made some good progress this weekend and found lots of points to improve on to hopefully turn a single podium into a win and a double podium next time. I’m already looking forward to implementing that.”
