Jose Manuel Vilalta will miss this weekend’s EuroFormula Open round at Silverstone after undergoing surgery on his right knee.
The Mexican is recuperating at home after having an operation to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, and Vilalta will require at least three weeks of activity on the area to insure his recovery is as quick as possible.
Vilalta will be looking to return to EuroFormula Open at the Red Bull Ring in September, but the Teo Martin Motorsport line-up for Silverstone will consist of only Nikita Zlobin and Vladimir Atoev, with Tatiana Calderon also absent from the line-up due to her GP3 Series commitments at the Hungaroring.
“I can’t be more sad about the current situation,” said Vilalta. “Fortunately I have the support of my family and the doctors who are treating and helping me to overcome this unfortunate medical situation.
“I want to recover as soon as possible, but I have to follow the guidelines not to spoil the work that is being done. Then I have to go back to my physical form in order to be ready for Austria, a track that I know and where I had a good performance last year. But now we need just wait and think positively.”
