Jonathan Brace and Tim Samuel claimed another podium result on the Nicky Grist Stages, finishing second in the H3 Class and in the overall classification in twenty-second place.
It was another great result for the Enough Said Rallying team as they claimed a second place result previously at Goodwood in the pre-1984 category.
Rain was forecast for the Nicky Grist Stages, which made its presence known, making it a real challenge for teams and drivers to navigate through the forests bordering Camarthenshire and Powys.
With Brace and Samuel’s desire to progress up the leaderboard, the conditions made things difficult due to the modern four-wheel drive machinery. The pair had a great afternoon to finish the forty-five mile, eight stage event in twenty-second place, and runners-up in the H3 class.
Brace said “It was probably the roughest rally I’ve ever done – the car was rattled to within an inch of its life with lights coming on the dashboard, the rev counter having a mind of its own and the gearbox making what can only be described menacing noises! Dave Jenkins Motorsport will have their work cut out to re-prepare the car but yet again, they provided a faultless machine that soldiered on regardless of the conditions.”
Jonathan paid tribute to the category winners Terry Brown and Den Golding, adding “I must compliment Terry Brown and Den Golding on a storming drive. The organisers did a wonderful job making everything run efficiently as possible as did the marshals, who without their dedication events would not take part. Seemingly traditional Welsh weather failed to put a dampener on proceedings and it was great to see crowds throughout.”
