Louis Deletraz revealed it was an issue with the clutch on his Fortec Motorsports machine that caused him to stall on the formation lap for race one at Silverstone, which resulted in the Swiss driver starting from the pit lane.
The Renault Sport Academy-backed driver also revealed that his car had braking issues during the second half of the race on Saturday, leaving him unable to continue his charge through the field, instead being forced to settle for tenth and a solitary point, meaning he lost valuable ground in the championship to Tom Dillmann.
“I had something strange on the grid, because my formation lap practice start was really good,” said Deletraz. “We were struggling with the clutch at the beginning of the weekend.
“I came onto the grid and just released like 10% and it launched me forward and stopped. They are checking the data right now and there is definitely something wrong.
“[In the middle of the race] we had brake failure. I think it was lap eleven or twelve and suddenly my brake pedal got longer and longer and I couldn’t really stop at the corners, but we were P10 and had to carry on and bring it to the end.
“We lost a few points to the championship lead today. We’ve not been the quickest all weekend, it’s hard to know what to expect [tomorrow] but this morning, we can improve, some big points and a podium finish will be a good result, and of course in front of Tom Dillmann would be even better.”
