Leonardo Pulcini was untouchable and in dominant form as he led from start to finish to claim his fourth EuroFormula Open victory at a warm Silverstone on Saturday.

The Italian converted his pole position into a comfortable first corner lead and was never threatened throughout the fifteen lap race, with the Campos Racing driver crossing the line almost five seconds to the good over the chasing pack.

Pulcini was joined on the podium by American Colton Herta, who enjoyed his best result of the season in second for Carlin and claimed the rookie honours as well, and by Antoni Ptak, who continued his recent improved form with third for RP Motorsport.

Ferdinand Habsburg perhaps made the move of the race to claim fourth for Drivex School after passing Damiano Fioravanti around the outside of Stowe Corner after starting eighth, while Enaam Ahmed claimed sixth just behind his RP Motorsport team-mate Fioravanti.

A good start enabled Diego Menchaca to finish seventh for Campos Racing, with Igor Walilko eighth for Fortec Motorsports, while Vladimir Atoev claimed ninth for Teo Martin Motorsport.

The points scorers were completed by RP Motorsport’s Kantadhee Kusiri despite the Thai driver being pitched into a spin by Campos Racing’s Julio Moreno at turn four, the move breaking the latter’s front wing.

The race started badly for Tanart Sathienthirakul and Ameya Vaidyanathan when the duo clashed on the run down to Maggots on the opening lap with the Carlin driver hitting the concrete wall after being pitched into a spin by the RP Motorsport driver as they battled for position at the back end of the top ten.

Both drivers were out of the race on the spot with damage, while later in the lap Ye Hongli also retired in his BVM Racing machine.
