Leonardo Pulcini remains the driver to beat this weekend at Silverstone as he secured pole position for the opening race of the EuroFormula Open weekend in a close qualifying session on Saturday morning.
The Italian racer put his Campos Racing machine at the top of the time sheets late in the session after seeing a number of other drivers show good speed, only for Pulcini to grab his third pole of the season with a time of 1:52.472, 0.086 seconds faster than Colton Herta.
Herta is still looking for his first podium finish of the season but the Carlin driver has looked strong all weekend long at Silverstone, with the American bumping Italian racer Damiano Fioravanti to third in the leading of the RP Motorsport machines, while Ferdinand Habsburg was fourth fastest for Drivex School.
Antoni Ptak was fifth for RP Motorsport ahead of team-mates Enaam Ahmed and Kusiri Kantadhee, while Ameya Vaidyanathan was eighth for Carlin.
Tanart Sathienthirakul ensured all five RP Motorsport drivers qualified inside the top nine positions despite being warned for track limits, while Julio Moreno placed his Campos Racing machine into tenth.
Igor Walilko was looking on course for a top ten start but dropped to eleventh at the chequered flag for Fortec Motorsports, with the Polish driver set to start alongside German Keyvan Andres of Carlin, while Diego Menchaca will be disappointed to be down in thirteenth for Campos Racing.
Likewise, Ye Hongli will be downbeat in qualifying fourteenth for BVM Racing after being a top ten contender on Friday, with Teo Martin Motorsport duo Vladimir Atoev and Nikita Zlobin sharing row eight on a disappointing session for the team, while Gulhuseyn Abdullayeu and Daniele Cazzaniga complete the eighteen car field.
