Vauxhall ADAM’s R2 cars take centre stage at Nicky Grist Stages

1 Mins read

Vauxhall Motorsport Junior Rally Team will be bringing their ADAM R2 rally cars to Wales for the 2016 DMACK Junior British Rally Championship this weekend on the 9-10 May.

The Nicky Grist Stages will consist of ten Special Stages consisting of forty-five gravel miles and sixty tarmac miles, making it a challenge for the drivers and navigators, as well as the mechanics too as they face a two-and-a-half-hour job to change their ADAM R2 cars from their gravel setup to tarmac in the service park.

Competing for Vauxhall Motorsport Junior Rally Team this weekend is Sweden’s Matthias Adielsson and the Republic of Ireland’s Rob Duggan. Duggan currently leads the DMACK Junior British Rally Championship by ten points, while his team-mate Adielsson is in fourth place despite having three podium places this season without a win.

Adielsson has decided to take his joker card this weekend, meaning any points he scores will be doubled. The Swede said “Really looking forward for this event and we did plan to use our joker here early after seeing on boards we think it is quite similar gravel roads as Sweden and will fit us well. The tarmac roads look great almost like a racetrack so it will be a really great event with the mixed surface and a real challenge for both team and crews!”

Rob was excited about the challenges of the Nicky Grist Stages, saying “It’s only been two weeks since our last rally but really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel. It will be a tough event with the change of surfaces, we are ready and looking forward to a good battle.”
