Fresh off the back of a double race victory last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, Lando Norris was back on track to take a double pole position as the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup arrived at the Dutch circuit of Assen.
The British driver was fastest in both qualifying sessions on Friday, and will lead an all-Josef Kaufmann Racing front row for both races alongside Indian team-mate Jehan Daruvala.
Norris’ best time of 1:34.684 was enough to see him take pole position for race one, with Daruvala just behind with a 1:34.712, while Max Defourny placed third for R-ace GP, a further 0.009 seconds down on second place.
Dorian Boccolacci will start fourth for Tech 1 Racing, just ahead of his team-mate Sacha Fenestraz, who secured his first NEC podium just one week ago in Belgium.
Nikita Troitskiy was the best placed of the Fortec Motorsports drivers in sixth, with the third Josef Kaufmann Racing entry of Russian teenager Robert Shwartzman seventh ahead of Ferdinand Habsburg of Fortec.
Will Palmer will start the opening race of the weekend from ninth for R-ace GP, and will be looking for some good results after an extremely difficult weekend at Spa last weekend, while Henrique Chaves of AVF will start tenth.
The second qualifying session saw Norris once again hit the front, with his best time of 1:33.945 comfortably clear of the rest of the field, with Daruvala once again the best of the rest, albeit 0.488 seconds down.
Boccolacci and Fenestraz will form an all-Tech 1 Racing second row ahead of Defourny and Shwartzman, with Palmer seventh ahead of Habsburg.
James Allen, fresh off his maiden Formula Renault 2.0 Series podium last weekend in Spa, will start ninth for JD Motorsport, with Alex Gill completing the top ten for Mark Burdett Motorsport.
