Joel Eriksson was delighted after adding his name to the list of Masters of F3 winners as he triumphed in the feature race at Zandvoort on Sunday.
Eriksson follows in the footsteps of 2015 winner Antonio Giovinazzi and becomes the second Swede to win the event after Felix Rosenqvist, and came on a day that Motopark secured all three podium positions.
Eriksson admitted that he almost let the chance of victory slip away by a sluggish start, but after just about retaining the lead despite the challenge from both Callum Ilott and Niko Kari, was able to remain in front until the chequered flag.
“An absolutely amazing feeling,” said Eriksson. “This is one of the best days of my life, if not the best. I went here aiming to win it, but it’s such a long way to actually doing it, and I can’t believe this just happened.
“I didn’t make a perfect start today, but I managed to defend the lead going into the first corner and that was really the crucial point.
“There are some pretty big names to have won the Masters in the past, and it’s a huge thing for me to be up there with them. I will probably never forget this day, and I want to thank my team and everyone who believes in me. This is a team effort.”
