Peugeot Rally Academy fields WRC2/WRC3 line-up for Rallye Deutschland

1 Mins read

Peugeot’s Rally Academy have fielded their WRC2/WRC3 line-up for the 2016 Rallye Deutschland event.

Last year’s 208 Rally Cup-winner José Antonio ‘Cohete’ Suarez will be fielding the Peugeot 208T16 in WRC2 at Rallye Deutschland alongside Quentin Giordiano, who will drive for Sébastien Loeb Racing in the other 208T16.

The Spaniard is suited to the asphalt as he won three rounds of last year’s 208 Rally Cup en-route to claiming the title. Cohete said “I’m really looking forward to working with the team again. We won’t be under any pressure in Germany and we intend to take the week step-by-step.

“My intention is to continue to familiarise myself with the Peugeot 208T16 and I’m aware that my position at the finish will depend in part on my speed and also on not making any mistakes. I will do all I can to gain more experience by making it to the end. If I can do that, I should be able to come away with a good result.”

Jordan Berfa will be targeting a top three result at Rallye Deutschland in the Peugeot 208R2 in the second of his three appearances in WRC3 this year.

Berfa has already attracted attention in WRC3 after claiming a podium finish at Rallye Monte-Carlo in January. The Frenchman added “Ideally, it would be great if I could finish ahead of the other two Peugeot 208R2’s on the entry list.

“If the weather is dry, it won’t be easy to mix it with the R3 runners but, as we saw on the Monte Carlo, anything can happen when the conditions get difficult. My aim is to not make any mistakes and reach the finish, but I would also like to use this event with the Peugeot Rally Academy to show what I am capable of.”
