Sacha Fenestraz secured his maiden Formula Renault 2.0 NEC podium during Saturday’s second race at Spa-Francorchamps, with the Frenchman hoping it is not the last time he visits the podium in 2016.

The Tech 1 Racing driver, who took victory in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 Series at Monaco in May, had not bettered fifth before Saturday’s race, but felt the result around the legendary Belgian circuit was a great one.

Fenestraz admitted the weekend as a whole was difficult, especially when it came to qualifying and race one, which were all held in wet conditions, but was delighted to get the result in the dry on Saturday, and the Frenchman now moves into the top ten in the championship as a result heading into this weekend’s races at Assen.

“It feels so good to be on the podium,” said Fenestraz on necup.com on Saturday. “Hopefully, it wasn’t the last podium this year.

“It was a difficult weekend. The qualifying was hard because of the rain. In the race yesterday, I made a big mistake.  Today, the first corner was tricky as well. We had some good fights later. In the end, everything was fine.”
