Max Defourny secured only his second pole position of the season at Spa-Francorchamps as he bids to take the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championship battle to the final round of the season.

The Belgian took pole for his R-ace GP team with a time of 2:18.039 as the top sixteen cars were separated by less than one second.

Defourny ended 0.119 seconds ahead of Josef Kaufmann Racing’s Jehan Daruvala, while Hugo de Sadeleer’s excellent weekend continued with his best qualifying effort of the season for Tech 1 Racing, a day after taking his maiden victory.

Will Palmer, who was at the top of the timing screens after the first runs in the session, was unable to better seventh for R-ace GP, while the third Josef Kaufmann Racing entry of Robert Shwartzman was eighth ahead of AVF by Adrian VallésHarrison Scott and Tech 1 Racing’s Gabriel Aubry.
