Lincoln, Lincolnshire — Hykeham based driver Martin Dalzell made his second trip of the year to Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire for Round 8 and the finale of the 2016 Swift Sport Rallycross Championship on Saturday 22nd October.

The Supalite backed driver was determined to end his maiden year on a high. But, despite this found the qualifying heats heavy going. He started to put in some good lap times in an almost unassuming way. He was rewarded by lining up on the middle row for the second of the semi-finals and drove a strong race despite being shunted off into the gravel just after the first corner. He took fourth place securing him a place in the final for the third time this year and the first since round 5 in Maasmechelen, Belgium.

Dalzell made a great start and was in fifth position into the first corner and fourth by the second. He then used all the experience he has gained over the year and drove the remainder of the final perfectly taking the checkered flag in second place behind the new champion. This result sees him round out the year in a very respectable eighth place overall.

The 2017 calendar has now been released and Dalzell plans to pick up where he left off. Judging by his performance at Croft he will most definitely be viewed as a contender by his fellow drivers.

Martin Dalzell, #4:

“I’m over the moon with the podium I couldn’t have wished for a better finish to my maiden season its what I have been chasing all year. everything seemed to click. I still feel there’s more to give as well! I can’t wait until the new season starts and my preparation starts now! Thanks to all the support I have been getting and especially my sponsors Supalite Roof Systems, Cross Plant Hire, Chris Prior Graphics, Gamble Motorsport and Hykeham MOT Centre,  – without whom the racing wouldn’t have been possible”
