British Formula 4 racer Frank Bird will make his Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 debut this weekend in the season finale at the Portuguese Estoril Circuit.

The seventeen-year-old British racer teams up with Fortec Motorsports in a five-car assault alongside regulars Bruno Baptista and Ferdinand Habsburg, plus wildcard racer Nikita Troitskiy and fellow debutant Aleksandr Vartanyan.

Bird, who had a trio of tenth place finishes as his best results in British F4 in 2016, has tested a 2.0-litre Formula Renault machine at Monza earlier this year and will make a wildcard appearance in Eurocup this weekend.

“I’m really looking forward to making my debut in the Formula Renault Eurocup Championship at Estoril this weekend,” admitted Bird. “I have never been to Estoril before but have been doing lots of laps on the simulator, it seems like a really cool track with lots of different corners which are quite difficult.

“It’s going to be a very hard weekend but I can’t wait for the challenge.”

As well as Bird and Russian racer Vartanyan, New Zealander Marcus Armstrong will make his first Eurocup appearance of the season with R-ace GP, while Australian racer Alex Peroni has joined TS Corse.
