Teo Martin Motorsport have announced Pedro Cardosa as their first driver for the 2017 edition of EuroFormula Open.
The young Brazilian switches from racing in his homeland in Formula 3 Brazil, where he finished four times on the podium in eight races after previously winning the Formula 4 South America championship in 2015, where he took seven race victories.
“I am extremely happy to sign with Teo Martin Motorsport,” admitted Cardosa. “The reason we signed with the team is because we believe that they are in a good position to fight for the EuroFormula Open championship.
“We have all that’s needed for it to happen, incredible structure and investment of Mr. Martin on the team, extremely serious and experienced team principal Mr. Emilio De Villota and overall top engineers and mechanics working alongside me.
“On top of all that, the EuroFormula Open is a top level championship with strong equipment, best tracks on Europe and high level battles with the other teams and drivers.”
Team owner Teo Martin has welcomed Cardosa to the squad, and is hopeful that the Brazilian can perform well in his rookie season in European racing.
“We’re delighted to have Pedro on board as the first driver announced in our EuroFormula Open line up,” said Martin. “He is a fantastic asset to have and will no doubt show himself well from the very start of the 2017 season as he gets to grip with a new car and a new challenge.
“He’s been working extremely hard this past season in his F3 Brazil campaign and I can’t wait to see what he is capable of in the EuroFormula Open car.”
