Nathan Heathcote will step up to the 2017 Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship after agreeing a deal to race for LD Motorsports in a Citroen C4 Supercar.

Heathcote, who is the defending Swift Sport Rallycross champion will move up to the series aboard a Kenneth Hansen-build C4 that Pat Doran raced during 2016 and could move into one of the teams newer Citroen DS3s from the third event of the season at Pembrey in Wales

He will also have his experienced engineer Graham Rodemark by his side once again this season and the youngster can’t wait for 2017. He said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to race a Supercar this year. It’s a big step up from the Swifts but I’ve watched them a lot and it’s a buzz just being around them. I’ll probably do the first two rounds in the C4 and then see how it’s going. It’s a big learning curve.”

“I couldn’t go into a better team really” Heathcote added. “Between them, Pat and Liam (Doran) have so much Supercar and rallycross experience and I get on really well with them.”

Despite Heathcote only just moving up to the Supercar class this season, he is already targeting podium finishes in his maiden year in the category. He stated: “I’d definitely love to get on the podium a couple of times this season. Of course everyone wants to win and I’ll be trying for that but I just want to get my first race out the way and see how it goes.”

Heathcote’s first action in his new class will be at Croft Circuit on March 19.
