Harrison Scott jumped into the lead at the start at Paul Ricard and was never headed as he took victory in the second EuroFormula Open Winter Series race on Saturday.
Pole sitter Pedro Cardoso stalled on the grid to allow Scott to take the lead, and the RP Motorsport driver was never troubled, and despite the weather again playing a part in proceedings, the British racer won the thirteen-lap race by 4.337 seconds.
Nikita Troitskiy made a last lap pass on Thiago Vivacqua to finish second, with the SMP Racing-backed Drivex School driver pipping the Campos Racing ace by just 0.841 seconds at the chequered flag.
Jannes Fittje, who had spun away a certain victory in race one earlier in the day, had a much quieter race to finish fourth for Fortec Motorsports, but his team-mate Yan Leon Shlom, who capitalised on Fittje’s mistake earlier in the day saw how quickly fortunes can turn when he was forced to retire on the opening lap.
Carlin Motorsports duo Ameya Vaidyanathan and Devlin De Francesco finished fifth and sixth respectively, the former driving well through the field, while another driver who showed good form with a drive from the back was Romanian Petru Florescu, who finished seventh for Campos Racing despite starting fifteenth on the grid after his race one retirement.
Teo Martin Motorsport drivers finished eighth and ninth, Eliseo Martinez finishing ahead of Javier Cobian, while Campos Racing saw Simo Laaksonen complete the top ten ahead of Matheus Iorio and Christian Hahn.
Poleman Cardoso returned to the race after being pushed into the pits but couldn’t better fifteenth at the chequered flag for Teo Martin Motorsport.
