Nicky Hayden involved in ‘serious’ road accident whilst training [Updated]

2006 MotoGP champion Nicky Hayden has been taken to hospital following a ‘serious’ road accident.

According to the Italian news site RiminiToday, the American was out training on his bicycle with friends in Italy when he was hit head on by a car.

Pictures from the scene show heavy damage on the windscreen of the car with Hayden reportedly suffering chest and head injuries.

Hayden’s Red Bull Honda World Superbike team have tweeted some updates on his condition.
