Harrison Scott continued his domination of the Spa-Francorchamps weekend as he took his second pole position of the EuroFormula Open for Saturday’s opening race.
But unlike in free practice, the RP Motorsport driver did not have it all his own way, and after being over a second clear on Friday, he was only 0.101 seconds clear of the field on Saturday morning.
Scott set a best lap of 2:13.220s to hit the front, with Carlin’s Ameya Vaidyanathan, a podium finisher in Estoril, joining the Briton on the front row, denying Drivex School’s Nikita Troitskiy the spot by 0.095 seconds.
Devlin de Francesco had led the way after the first runs with a time of 2:13.643s, which was 0.058 seconds better than Scott’s initial best, with Vaidyanathan up in third, but the Canadian ended up only fourth after failing to improve at the end of the session.
Matheus Iorio will start fifth for Campos Racing alongside team-mate Thiago Vivacqua, while Tarun Reddy was within one-second of the pole time to take seventh for Carlin.
Alex Karkosik was eighth for RP Motorsport, with Pedro Cardosa of Teo Martin Motorsport and Jannes Fittje of Fortec Motorsports completing the top ten.
