Harrison Scott confirmed himself as the standout driver in the EuroFormula Open field after securing his second win of the weekend at the Circuit Paul Ricard on Sunday, leading every lap from pole position and setting the fastest lap in the process.
Nikita Troitskiy got the jump on the polesitter heading into turn one, but RP Motorsport ace Scott was back in the lead after passing the Russian into the chicane on the Mistral straight later on lap one, and then pulled away with ease to win by 3.813 seconds.
For the second day running, Drivex School racer Troitskiy himself was untroubled in second position, but unlike on Saturday, Jannes Fittje was able to maintain third place until the chequered flag to take his maiden podium finish in EuroFormula Open, holding off the challenge of Ameya Vaidyanathan until the chequered flag.
Vaidyanathan and Carlin Motorsport team-mate Devlin De Francesco were both able to pass Alex Karkosik, with the Polish racer unable to convert his fourth place on the grid into an equally impressive result, with the RP Motorsport driver ultimately dropping down to eighth at the end after being also passed by Campos Racing duo Petru Florescu and Thiago Vivacqua.
Eliseo Martinez Merono secured two more points for Teo Martin Motorsport in ninth, while the final point went to Campos Racing’s Simo Laaksonen, who finished ahead of Tarun Reddy and Christian Hahn.
Scott now holds a sixty-six point lead advantage in the championship standings after just three rounds of eight, with the next race weekend taking place at the Hungaroring at the beginning of July.
