Harrison Scott secured his third pole position of the season for race one at a warm Circuit Paul Ricard on Saturday as he aims to continue his strong start to the 2017 EuroFormula Open season.
The RP Motorsport driver has taken three of the first four victories this season and after a strong showing during practice on Friday, he went into qualifying with confidence, and Scott did not disappoint, setting a best time of 1:59.569s to take pole position.
Nikita Troitskiy, the only other driver to take pole position this season aside from Scott, will join the Briton on the front row, with the Drivex School racer ending 0.249 seconds down, while Jannes Fittje was the only other driver within a second of Scott’s time for Fortec Motorsports, 0.415 seconds back.
Ameya Vaidyanathan, who took a breakthrough victory last time out at Spa-Francorchamps to deny Scott a clean sweep of race wins, was fourth for Carlin, 1.141 seconds behind the championship leader, but 0.229 seconds ahead of team-mate Devlin De Francesco in fifth.
Eliseo Martinez Merono was an impressive sixth for Teo Martin Motorsport ahead of Petru Florescu of Campos Racing, while Alex Karkosik, Tarun Reddy and Thiago Vivacqua completed the top ten.
