It was Kami Laliberte and Julian Hanses who will share pole positions for the opening two ADAC Formula 4 races at Oschersleben this weekend. For both, it is their maiden poles in the series and for Laliberte, a chance to make it eight different winners from ten races.
Qualifying had been significantly delayed after a power outage in the morning prevented any running from taking place. As the first session of the day the series was largely affected, taking place two hours later than scheduled.
As the cars made it out on to track, all eyes were on Marcus Armstrong and Juri Vips. As the dominant pair from last weekend, the pressure was on both to perform, with championship leader Vips setting his final lap early and dropping to ninth overall having set the initial pace.
Instead, a strong session from Laliberte saw him beat Hanses by five hundredths of a second with a late final lap.
Armstrong would take third ahead of Jonathan Aberdein who will hoping to bounce back this weekend. The third row meanwhile will be filled by Felipe Drugovich and Fabio Scherer, while Nicklas Nielsen and David Malukas complete the top eight.
