Felipe Drugovich led from start to finish as he closes the gap to Juri Vips in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship. The result will be vital for the Brazilian who had been crashed out of the opening encounter at the Nurburgring.
The grid for the second race, that was determined by the second fastest time in qualifying saw Drugovich start at the front. The Van Amersfoort Racing driver was looking for a more successful race after the disaster on Saturday that meant he failed to finish the opening lap undamaged.
In a change from yesterday, Drugovich held off Lirim Zendeli through the first corner, forcing the BWT Mucke Motorsport driver to hold off Andreas Estner, who continued his strong run from the day before.
Just behind, Juri Vips made a strong getaway, quickly disposing of the US Racing cars to take fourth and chase down Estner. He would jump another place when a mistake by Zendeli forced Estner off-line and allowed Vips to take the advantage.
Further back, Cedric Piro found himself with a brake failure going into the first corner, bringing out a red flag as he needed to be removed from the car, he had been sixteenth.
This gave Drugovich the win ahead of Zendeli and Vips, who will be pleased to have reduced the deficit to only 10 points lost. Meanwhile Estner and Julian Hanses completed the top five.
Behind them, Kim-Luis Schramm made the most of a bad qualifying to take sixth ahead of the poor starting Prema Powerteam pair of Enzo Fittipaldi and Marcus Armstrong, who will be hoping to recover his championship in race three when he starts on pole.
Completing the top ten was Jonathan Aberdein, who will need points after his disastrous weekend so far and Frederik Vesti.
