Andrea Dovizioso is aiming for a second victory in as many years at Silverstone as he looks to regain the edge over Ducati team-mate Jorge Lorenzo in this weekend’s British Grand Prix. The Italian took a sensational victory here twelve months ago to claim the world championship lead and with Ducati heading to the UK following back-to-back wins, confidence is high in the Bologna camp.

After winning from pole position at Brno, Dovizioso had to watch as Lorenzo went wheel-to-wheel with reigning champion Marc Marquez in a battle for victory. With positive memories to draw upon at Silverstone, Andrea was in confident mood as he faced the media on Thursday.

“For sure, victory is our target. At this moment, we are fast at every track so I expect to be very competitive. It’s difficult for everybody because it’s a long track and is very hard on the tyres. For sure, our bike is better than last year and after testing in Misano, we confirmed that, so we can start here with a good pace.”

Although his own results have been mixed, with accidents ruling him out at Jerez, Le Mans and Catalunya, Dovizioso believes Ducati’s confirmation as a race-winning threat on all circuits came at the start of the European season.

“I think from Jerez, we confirmed the good pace of our bike”, he added. “For sure, the bike is improving step-by-step but we didn’t make a bug change from last year. We were already quick last year so the improvement is enough for us to win at different tracks”.
