Correa Quickest in Second Day of Abu Dhabi Formula 2 Testing

Juan Manuel Correa, of Charouz Racing System, was the quickest in the second day of post Abu Dhabi FIA Formula 2 testing, as the American was the one driver to go below the 1 minute 50 second barrier as he set the fastest time of 1:49.958, ahead of Mick Schumacher and Luca Ghiotto.

Before Correa’s quick lap with 7 minutes to go Schumacher set the fastest time, taking his PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing car around Yas Marina with a lap of 1:50.166. This was a massive improvement for the German after the morning saw him linger toward the bottom of the pack, finishing nineteenth in the earlier session with a fastest time of 1:56.659.

After completing the first day with the RUSSIAN TIME team, Luca Ghiotto stayed in their second car, remaining in the top ten in both sessions. Ghitto finished third in the in the morning session and seventh in the evening, with his best time coming in the afternoon with a time of 1:50.168.

Sergio Sette Camara, who was with DAMS for a second day finished fourth. With Nobuharu Matsushita back in the Carlin in fifth.

Former ART Grand Prix driver Jack Aitken tested with the Charouz Racing System team, setting the sixth overall fastest time after finishing second in the morning session.

Louis DeletrazDorian Boccolacci and Nikita Mazepin, finished seventh, eighth and ninth.

Callum Ilott switched from Charouz Racing Sytem to the Trident team for the second day, finishing in tenth position.

The second day of testing saw only two red flags, one in each session, Giuliano Alesi ground to a halt at the Turn 8 runoff and Antoine Hubert spun and stopped at Turn 8 in the evening session.

Testing will resume, tomorrow for day three. It will see GP3, Dutch, driver Richard Verschoor step in the MP Motorsport team, we will make his debut in a Formula 2 car.  Swiss driver, Ralph Boschung, will come back to testing, and return to Trident. Along side him at the British team will be Ryan Tveter, who tested for BWT Adren International on day one.
