RedBull KTM Tech 3 rider Miguel Oliveira has been handed a 3 place grid penalty for irresponsible riding, the incident happened during qualifying 1 at turn 3.

Oliveira was riding slowly on the racing line disturbing another rider on a potential fast lap, this contravenes article 1.21.2 of the FIM World Championship Grand Prix Regulations.

The decision is not able to be appealed, Miguel Oliveira will now start the Motul TT Assen race in twentieth position having originally qualified seventeenth, ahead of RedBull KTM Factory rider Johann Zarco and his team-mate Hafizh Syahrin.

This is the same penalty that Monster Energy Yamaha’s Maverick Vinales received at Barcelona just 2 weeks ago after accidentally blocking Fabio Quatararo.
