NASCAR Cup Series regular Cody Ware is set to make his NTT IndyCar Series debut at the upcoming REV Group Grand Prix at Road America, piloting the No. 52 Nurtec ODT (rimegepant) entry for Dale Coyne Racing with Rick Ware Racing.

Ware, 25, has been racing in NASCAR’s top series since 2017, but has an extensive background in road racing. Ware won rookie of the year honors in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series and claimed the 2019/2020 LMP2 Asian Le Mans Championship. Ware also finished fourth in the LMP2 category in the 2021 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

This year, Ware has had multiple opportunities to drive an IndyCar with the team. His first taste came at a test day at Sebring International Raceway, then testing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as a part of Indy 500 testing in April, and most recently at Road America in a rookie testing day.

“To be a part of an NTT IndyCar Series race is such an honor, and a surreal experience for me,” said Ware.

“I never would’ve thought that I would ever go down the open wheel route for a multitude of reasons, but thanks to RWR, Dale Coyne Racing, and Biohaven / Nurtec ODT I am getting an opportunity to compete at the highest level of open wheel motorsport in the US.”

“Road America is an ideal place to make my debut and I am so excited to learn and soak it all in. Having two great teammates such as Romain Grosjean and Ed Jones will help take some of the edge off the learning curve if only a little.”

Team co-entrant Rick Ware, who is also Cody’s father, expressed his pride in the rapid growth of the team, and stated that more entries are to come for the No. 52 car.

“What started as a 3-4 race sponsorship to roll out a marketing program for BioHaven and Nurtec ODT (rimegepant) in the NTT IndyCar Series, turned into a full-season sponsorship commitment with the No. 51 Honda,” Ware said.

“Thanks to their continued partnership, we’re excited to add a few races for the No. 52 entry, starting with Road America this weekend.”

The REV Group Grand Prix will take place on Sunday 20 June at 1200 EST / 1700 GMT.
