Tom Mills, Formula Ford front runner, is graduating to the GB4 Championship for the 2022 season with Kevin Mills Racing.

Mills made his racing debut in the national Formula Ford Championship last year and finished fourth overall, despite missing the season opener due to his age.

The 16-year-old managed to achieve six podium finishes and three fastest laps in 2021, including a race win at the final weekend at Snetterton.

Mills has demonstrated his excellence several times including racing in the Castle Combe Championship, the Champion of Brands series and claiming pole position in the Walter Hayes Trophy events. As well as these achievements, Mills was the fastest of 98 driver in qualifying for the legendary Brands Hatch event last October, set to win before being wiped out of the final.

Mills has also had multiple tests with the Tatuus F4-T014 car ahead of the 2022 season.

I’m very excited to make the step up to the new GB4 Championship with KMR. It’s a steep learning curve moving to a car with slicks and wings after racing Formula Ford last season, but so far testing has gone very well,” said Mills.

“It will also be great to be racing on the British GT package, with higher coverage and exposure for drivers, and getting to race on iconic tracks such as the Brands Hatch GP circuit. I’d like to thank my sponsors, SD Sealants, Investchem and Allington Farm Shop for the fantastic opportunity!”

Kevin Mills, Team Principal, added, “Tom’s done really well in testing so far, and has adapted quickly to the challenges of moving from Formula Ford into a slicks and wings car. We’re really looking forward to seeing how he does when the season starts.

For the team, it’s great to get our first driver on board as we move up to GB4, and we’re working hard to secure a second driver so we can collaborate and share data between the two, and achieve our goal of having both cars at the front of the grid so we can continue our Formula Ford success.”
