Aiden Moffat will step up for a full-season assault on the British Touring Car Championship in 2014, competing with Aiden Moffat Racing in the Chevrolet Cruze formerly raced by IP Tech Race Engineering.
The rapid Scottish racer dovetailed a Scottish Mini racing campaign with his debut in BTCC during 2013, making history at Knockhill by becoming the youngest series starter at the age of 16 as he competed in an S2000 Cruze formerly raced by Joe Girling and M247 Racing.
Moffat’s family squad has now purchased the NGTC Chevrolet Cruze piloted and owned previously by Andy Neate in 2013 – plus all assets and spares – with Rick Howson joining as team co-ordinator; other key staff to be brought into the team in the very near future.
Scottish teenager Moffat also raced with Team HARD in a Volkswagen Passat during the final duo of rounds in 2013, scoring championship points at both Silverstone and Brands Hatch.
On his 2014 plan for a full campaign, the 17-year-old says with confidence: “There is no point me turning up to run at the rear of the field, I only race to win, and I hope to do that at some point in the Cruze – it is a fantastic car.”
Team owner Bob Moffat added: “We have examined the car and evaluated it to the finest degree. It is clear that this can be a very competitive car with further development from the team and Aiden.
“We think that it is the ideal base for the team and that Aiden will show people what he is all about next year.”
