Caroline Tops The Timesheets In Oulton Testing

1 Mins read

Jamie Caroline continued his impressive run in the 2014 Ginetta Junior Championship by leading the way in official pre-event testing at Oulton Park.

Caroline took his maiden win at Thruxton last time out, and is currently on a run of three consecutive podium finishes as he lies fourth in the championship standings.

The Total Control Racing ace followed up the second fastest time in the opening session at Oulton with the best time of all in session two, his lap of 2m 02.402s putting him top of the timesheets by over a second.

Championship leader Jack Mitchell was fastest in the opening session by three quarters of a second, but couldn’t match Caroline’s pace in session two, his best time of 2m 03.705s being 1.303 seconds slower than the pace-setter’s.

Almost all the drivers set their quickest laps in the second session, which was helpful for James Kellett after transponder issues left him without a registered time from session one. The reigning Winter Series champion ended the day 1.859 seconds behind Caroline.

Jamie Chadwick was just 0.004 seconds slower than Kellett overall, and had a strong day by setting top four pace in both sessions. Lando Norris was fifth fastest ahead of R&J Motorsport trio Ryan Hadfield, Ben Pearson and Jonathan Hadfield.

Alex Sedgwick and Billy Monger impressed in the opening session with the fourth and fifth fastest times respectively. Sedgwick ended the day ninth overall, with Monger slipping to thirteenth after missing the second session.
